Natural wall cork tiles offer a wide range of benefits when compared with other available wall tile coverings such as;

  • Eco-Friendly Option

    Unlike many other wall tile products, cork is a completely natural and sustainable product. Unlike other products harvested from trees, cork doesn't require the tree to be cut down, instead, the bark of the cork oak tree (originating in Portugal and Spain) is trimmed every 9 years allowing it to grow back each time.

  • Natural Sound Absorption

    Cork reduces sound and noise vibrations by trapping vibrations within its cell structure. A small section of cork wall tile roughly 3/32" thick is capable of absorbing 10dB of sound.

  • Hypoallergenic

    Being naturally hypoallergenic, cork prevents mildew and mold from growing thanks to its cellular structure. This makes it a great choice for use throughout the home from home offices to bedrooms as it doesn't hold in things like pet hair, dust, and other common allergens.

  • Functional and Sleek

    Cork provides much more functionality than many other wall products as it can function as a notice board in places like bedrooms and offices allowing for important notes and documents to be hung. It is also a highly versatile product and can be used in conjunction with brick, plaster, wood, and many more building materials without looking out of place.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How to Remove Cork Tiles?

Create a diagonal corner-to-corner cut across the cork tile. Make a second cut in the opposite direction to form an "X". Hold a chisel at a 15-degree angle to the cork tile, slide the tip of the chisel into the center of the X and lift the chisel handle. If the tile doesn't lift up without resistance, use a hairdryer on high heat to melt the glue underneath and slide a blade or chisel under the tile and slowly prise loose.

How to Lay Cork Tiles?

Start at the middle of your wall and apply adhesive to your wall using a roller, allow the adhesive to set for 10 minutes or so (check the instructions for the time you should let your adhesive set) before positioning and placing your cork wall tile working outwards from the center. Apply more adhesive when required.

Are Cork Tiles Waterproof?

Cork tiles are naturally water-resistant and when applied with a sealant can be waterproof allowing for them to be used in some rooms where water and moisture are present. It is recommended to avoid excessive saturation and to clean any spills right away.

What is the Life Expectancy of Cork Tiles?

If properly maintained, cork wall tiles are more than able to withstand day-to-day wear and tear for up to 40 years or more.
